Life

I wish I could write well. My husband writes such clever things! So does one of my co-workers. I feel so inadequate when it comes to writing. I feel as though words are not my friend. I enjoy reading them…but even that is not what it used to be. It is incredibly sad that things we did enjoy no longer hold our interest.

Several years ago I retired from education and my husband gave me a motorcycle safety training class as my retirement gift. All my life I had wanted to have my own motorcycle and ride in the wind! After 1 day in the class I left in tears. My dream was crushed. It made me see that I was not the person I used to be. What I had thought I had wanted was not what I really wanted. I found it another time when I decided to take accounting classes at the local technical school. I couldn’t quite grasp the material. Was I too old? Did I really not care that much anymore? Had I just continued to carry these desires with me through the years?

Life scares me sometimes.

My Evening Job

Today I work my morning job and then the library from 1 until 5. I work at Cannon Financial Institute in the morning answering phones and whatever else needs to be done. Afternoons, evenings and weekends; I work at the Athens-Clarke County Library.

The library job is my dream job. Working there is so rewarding. Watching adults getting excited about books and reading is my favorite thing. The schoolchildren I used to work with would sometimes be interested in reading and books; but not often enough to suit me. But at the ACC people come in looking for certain things and it is gratifying to help them find them.

Once again, life is good.

Soon I will write about my cat house!

Refinancing the House

Life is full of surprises. We never know what is coming around the bend.

Yesterday we went to the bank to refinance our house that we could not sell in Griffin. The week we put it on the market 2 years ago the bottom fell out in the real estate world. Now we have it rented for a fraction of the house payment. The renter is very reliable so that makes the lower payment OK. As we talked to the banker we looked at our credit history. Sobering stuff! It shows how many mortgages we have had; how many loans and credit cards have been paid off, etc.

The bottom line is that we were able to cut out house payment down! YEA!!!

This will let us use some of my salaries to pay down other bills and possibly get another car.

Life is good!
